NAIROBI, Kenya — Police have arrested five suspects linked to an alleged criminal network operating in Dandora Phase III, in a targeted operation aimed at dismantling organised gangs behind phone snatching and residential theft.
The operation was conducted on May 26, 2026, by officers from the National Police Service following intelligence reports and surveillance on criminal activity within the area.
Police Raid Dandora Repair Shop
According to police, the operation led officers to a mobile phone repair shop in Dandora Phase III, which was allegedly being used as a storage and distribution point for stolen property.
Authorities said the shop had been under surveillance after reports linking it to a network involved in robberies and theft across the estate.
Recovered Phones and Token Meters
During the raid, officers recovered 21 mobile phones of various makes and models suspected to have been stolen from members of the public.
Police also recovered 12 Kenya Power token meters allegedly removed unlawfully from residential premises, raising concerns over a wider network of organised theft targeting households.
The suspects are believed to be part of a gang that has been terrorising residents through mobile phone snatching, robberies, and property theft.
Suspects in Custody as Investigations Continue
The five suspects are currently in police custody pending further investigations and eventual arraignment in court.
Police said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle organised criminal networks operating in Nairobi’s informal settlements and residential estates.
Call for Public Cooperation
The National Police Service urged residents to continue sharing information with security agencies to help combat crime.
Members of the public were encouraged to report suspicious activity through police stations or emergency numbers, including 999, 911, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations hotline.
Authorities said sustained intelligence-led operations will continue across Nairobi as part of broader efforts to enhance security and protect residents from organised criminal gangs.
