President William Ruto has donated Sh 1.6 million to the family of the late gospel singer Rachel Wandeto to support funeral arrangements following her death, as political leaders continue demanding justice over the circumstances surrounding her killing.
The financial contribution reached the family through a delegation that visited their home in Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County, carrying both a message of condolence and the President’s support.
The team included Anne Muratha and Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari, who delivered the contribution on behalf of the Head of State during a visit aimed at standing with the grieving family. The KSh 1.6 million contribution was dedicated entirely to funeral expenses.
Wandeto, a gospel musician and Juja resident, gained national attention after publicly expressing support for President Ruto and later went viral after tattooing the President’s image and political messaging on her body.
Her death shocked many Kenyans and quickly became a topic of national conversation.
During the condolence visit, leaders accompanying the President’s message strongly condemned violence and called for immediate action against those responsible.
The leaders insisted that differences in political views should never result in violence and urged authorities to ensure those behind the incident face justice.
Gitari described Wandeto’s death as a major loss and called for swift prosecution.
“Rachel’s passing is a great loss to the community and the gospel fraternity,” he said, while emphasizing that those responsible should face legal consequences.
Anne Muratha also confirmed the President’s contribution while addressing the family.
“Today, at Kerugoya in Kirinyaga on behalf of H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, I stood with the family of Rachael Wandeto and delivered his message of comfort and support, alongside his KSh 1.6 million contribution to the family,” she said.
Beyond the donation, President Ruto has publicly condemned political intolerance and warned against acts of violence associated with differing political opinions.
Following Wandeto’s death, the President stated that the country would not tolerate such incidents and vowed that individuals responsible would face legal accountability regardless of affiliations.
