Uchumi CEO Lawrence Ngao Charged in Sh135,000 Theft Case

NAIROBI, Kenya — Uchumi Supermarket Chief Executive Officer Lawrence Musyimi Ngao was on Wednesday charged at the Kibera Law Courts with two counts of stealing from a business tenant, Hotspot Coffee Lounge Limited.

Prosecutors told the court that Ngao, together with others not before the court, allegedly conspired to steal a chimney extractor fan valued at Sh135,000.

The equipment is said to have gone missing from premises occupied by the complainant.

Ngao denied the charges and was released on bond. The court directed that the matter proceed to mention for further directions as investigations continue.
