NAIROBI, Kenya- Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has pleaded not guilty to charges of allegedly giving false information to a public officer during a court appearance at the Kibera Law Courts.
The case stems from claims that Tuju falsely reported being abducted, triggering investigations and public concern over his whereabouts.

Tuju appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo for plea taking.
According to the charge sheet, the alleged incident occurred on March 21, 2026, at Entim Sidai Spa and Wellness Sanctuary in Lang’ata Sub-county.
Prosecutors claim Tuju told a police officer from Karen Police Station that he had been followed and abducted by unknown individuals.
They argue the information was false and intended to prompt police action.
Defence pushes for bond, terms offence a misdemeanour
Tuju denied the charges when they were read in court.
Through his legal team, he requested release on bond, noting the offence is classified as a misdemeanour.
His lawyers also cited his long history in public service as grounds for leniency.
