NAIROBI, Kenya- President William Ruto has announced the new team he will work with as Cabinet Secretaries.
This latest round of appointments comes as the final step in establishing his full Cabinet team, adhering to the legal requirement of appointing a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 22 Cabinet Secretaries.
New Cabinet Appointments
President Ruto recently named 10 new Cabinet Secretaries, following an initial announcement that included 10 other key figures, such as Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Foreign Affairs CS.
The newly nominated Cabinet Secretaries are set to oversee critical ministries:
- Ministry of Defence: Hon. Roselinda Soipan Tuya
- Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry: Hon. Aden Barre Duale
- National Treasury and Economic Planning: Hon. John Mbadi Ng’ongo
- Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry: Hon. Salim Mvurya Mgala
- Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife: Ms. Rebecca Miano
- Ministry of Energy and Petroleum: Hon. James Opiyo Wandayi
- Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports: Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen
- Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs: Hon. Hassan Ali Joho
- Ministry of Labour and Social Protection: Hon. Dr. Alfred Nganga Mutua
- Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development: Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya
- Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development: Hon. Justin Bedan Muturi
- Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage: Ms. Stella Soi Lang’at
First Batch of Nominees
Last Friday, President Ruto revealed the initial batch of nominees, which included several key positions such as the Attorney General. Notable appointments from this first batch include:
- Ministry of the Interior and National Administration: Kithure Kindiki
- Ministry of Health: Debra Mulongo Barasa
- Ministry of Roads and Transport: Davis Chirchir
- Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation: Eric Muga
- Ministry of Education: Julius Migosi
- Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development: Alice Wahome
- Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development: Dr. Andrew Karanja
- Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy: Dr. Margaret Ndungu
Rebecca Miano, initially named as Attorney General, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
Additionally, Soipan Tuya, who was nominated for the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, will now head the Ministry of Defence, swapping roles with Aden Duale.
