NAIROBI, Kenya- In a move that many users will welcome, Safaricom has just made it even easier to buy airtime through M-Pesa.
Previously, the minimum amount one could purchase was Ksh 5, but the telco has now lowered the threshold to just Ksh 1.
This change opens up more flexibility for Safaricom’s customers, allowing them to top up their airtime with the smallest of amounts.
The new offering was officially announced by Safaricom on Monday, and a quick check shows that the service is already live.
This change follows Safaricom’s recent adjustments to its offerings, highlighting the company’s commitment to enhancing customer experience.
Lowering the airtime purchase limit is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to make its services more accessible and user-friendly. It’s the kind of consumer-focused move that keeps Safaricom at the top of Kenya’s telecom industry.
But that’s not the only change Safaricom has introduced this month. The company also announced a new fee for its popular reverse call service. Users will be charged Ksh 0.50 for reverse call requests made more than twice a day. The first two reverse calls of the day will still be free for the initiator.
According to Safaricom, this fee is aimed at reducing the misuse of the service. “Some users opt for reverse calls even when they have sufficient airtime,” the company explained.
By implementing this charge, Safaricom hopes to encourage more responsible use of the feature. It’s also worth noting that this service is only available for calls made within the Safaricom network.
These recent changes reflect Safaricom’s efforts to adapt its services in response to user behavior and market demand. By introducing a minimal Ksh 1 airtime purchase option, the telco provides greater financial flexibility for its users.
