KIKUYU, Kenya — Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo has said he is safe after his vehicle was involved in a road accident in Kikuyu on Monday evening.
Gisairo said he remained in stable condition but experienced muscle pulls following the impact.
The legislator said the accident occurred at about 8 pm as he travelled to Nairobi from his constituency.
According to Gisairo, his vehicle was hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu D-Max, registration KDX 961T, which he said was registered to Isuzu Kenya and leased to the Ministry of Interior.
“Yesternight, as I was coming to Nairobi from my constituency, we were involved in an accident after being hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu DMax (KDX961T) registered to Isuzu Kenya and leased to the Ministry of Interior,” Gisairo said.
Other Vehicle Rolled Onto Road Shoulder
Gisairo said the impact caused the other vehicle to lose control and roll onto the road shoulder.
His driver, he added, managed to bring their vehicle to a stop despite losing the rear right tyre.
The MP said he and his team assisted the two occupants of the other vehicle following the crash.
He alleged that the two were later taken away in a government vehicle shortly after traffic police arrived at the scene.
Gisairo said the incident had been reported to the relevant agencies and that investigations were underway.
He further said the Ministry of Interior had identified the two occupants and the government officers who allegedly transported them from the scene.
“I can confirm that I have reported the matter to the relevant agencies and they are cooperating in the investigations and the ministry has identified the two persons in the car together with the other ministry officers who whisked them away,” he said.
MP Calls For Action If Officers Are Found Culpable
Gisairo said he expected the circumstances surrounding the accident to be fully addressed and any officers found culpable to face disciplinary action in accordance with the law.
He thanked members of the public and his supporters for their concern and messages following the incident.
The accident comes as Gisairo continues to participate in the Linda Mwananchi movement, where he has been involved in public mobilisation activities.
He also took part in a July rally in Kisii County where one person was reportedly killed during an attack.
Gisairo’s account of the accident and the conduct of the occupants and officers remains subject to the ongoing investigations.
