NAIROBI, Kenya- Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has hosted grassroots leaders from the Kipsigis community drawn from Kericho, Bomet, Narok and Nakuru counties, as he continued a series of political consultations at his Wamunyoro residence ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement shared after the meeting, the former Deputy President thanked the Kipsigis community for supporting him during the 2022 General Election, when he was elected Kenya’s second Deputy President.

“I thanked the Kipsigis community for honoring me by voting for me as the second Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya. Much gratitude and God’s blessings,” Gachagua said.

According to the DCP leader, the delegation briefed him on what they described as challenges facing the community, including neglect by elected leaders, inadequate development, marginalisation, alleged grabbing of community land and claims of extrajudicial killings.

“The leaders shared with me the challenges that the community is facing: neglect by their leaders, lack of development, marginalization, grabbing of community land, extrajudicial killings, among others,” he stated.

Gachagua said the discussions culminated in an agreement to work together politically as part of what he described as efforts to “liberate” the country and build Kenya’s “6th Administration.”

“We have agreed to walk together as a people in the liberation of our country and the formation of the 6th Administration,” he said.

He described the meeting as a lively engagement marked by song and dance, adding that his consultations with leaders from different regions of the country would continue.

“This was a beautiful day full of song and dance. Consultations continue! God bless Kenya,” Gachagua said.

The meeting is the latest in a series of engagements Gachagua has held at his Wamunyoro home since announcing that he would temporarily step away from public rallies to focus on consultations with political leaders, grassroots mobilisers and stakeholders as he seeks to build alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.

Recent visitors have included businessman Jimi Wanjigi, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya and Murang’a MCAs.
