NAIROBI, Kenya- Nyandarua Senator John Methu has launched a scathing attack on Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and President William Ruto, accusing the government of orchestrating a dangerous political scheme aimed at profiling the Mt Kenya region during ongoing fuel protests and demonstrations.
In a statement shared on social media, the Nyandarua senator alleged that the government was deliberately infiltrating protests in the Mt Kenya region to create the impression that demonstrations and destruction were being driven by one community.
“There’s a very dangerous scheme by Sen. Kipchumba Murkomen of infiltrating demonstrations in the Mt Kenya region to drive a narrative that only one region is demonstrating,” Methu claimed.
The senator further alleged that the destruction of property witnessed during recent protests in parts of Mt Kenya was not accidental but part of a calculated political strategy.
“The systematic destruction of property in our region is not mere coincidence. The haste upon which he runs to press conferences immediately after and blames opposition politicians confirms everything,” he said.

Methu linked the scheme to the Saba Saba demonstrations in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, where several government vehicles were torched.
According to the senator, he personally shared raw footage of suspected perpetrators with security authorities, but instead, innocent youths were allegedly arrested and pressured to implicate him in financing the destruction.
“All those people arrested in Ol Kalou were being asked to write in their statements that I am the one that sent them. They were literally being forced to say that I funded the destruction,” he claimed.
The senator also sensationally alleged that President Ruto personally called Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha asking him to publicly blame Methu for the violence, but the governor allegedly declined.
Methu argued that attempts to link him to the chaos collapsed because he had reportedly been out of the country in France during the period preceding the demonstrations.
“That’s the thinking of the current administration. They can stop at nothing to isolate the people of Mt Kenya from the rest of Kenya,” he claimed.
The outspoken senator also accused leaders allied to the government of remaining silent despite the worsening economic crisis facing Kenyans following the sharp increase in fuel prices.
“There’s a bigger problem — that he has held our elected leaders captive. No one has the courage to tell the President that our nation is hurting,” he said.

His remarks come amid escalating political tension following violent fuel protests and a nationwide matatu strike triggered by soaring fuel prices announced by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).
The government, through Interior CS Murkomen, has repeatedly accused sections of the opposition of sponsoring violence, looting and attacks targeting government supporters and infrastructure during the protests.
