NAIROBI, Kenya— Former Deputy President and Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua says consultations are ongoing as he seeks to build a political coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election, revealing that he has received guidance from elders of the Kiama Kia Kiama council.

In a statement on Thursday, Gachagua described elders as custodians of wisdom and foresight, saying their counsel would help shape the country’s political future and the formation of what he termed the “6th administration.”

“I consider myself privileged to have received such wise counsel from the leadership of Kiama Kia Kiama, the elders entrusted with guiding the Kikuyu community in matters of politics, economics and social issues,” Gachagua said.

He said the elders had urged him to safeguard the interests of the community while working collaboratively with other Kenyans for the country’s greater good.

“Through their counsel, I have been directed on the way forward in our journey to liberate our country, including the formation of the 6th administration,” he said.

The former Deputy President added that consultations were continuing but did not disclose further details on the political strategy or alliances under discussion.

Gachagua has in recent months intensified consultations with opposition leaders and regional political stakeholders following the launch of the Democracy for Citizens Party, positioning it as part of a broader effort to challenge President William Ruto’s administration in the 2027 elections.
