NAIROBI, Kenya — Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has reassigned five County Chief Officers in a fresh cabinet shake-up aimed at restructuring key departments within the county executive.
In changes announced Friday, Sakaja moved Machel Waikenda from the Mobility and acting ICT Infrastructure docket to Lands. Waikenda will, however, continue to serve in an acting capacity within the Mobility sector.
Cecilia Koigu was reassigned from Lands to ICT Infrastructure, while Engineer Bob Ariemba was appointed acting Chief Officer for Works.
In the health and social sectors, Irene Muchoki was transferred from Medical Services to Gender and Inclusivity. She will be replaced by Mariam Dubow Dahir, who previously headed the Gender and Inclusivity docket.
The governor said the changes take effect immediately, signalling a continued effort to realign service delivery across departments.
The latest reshuffle comes months after a broader reorganisation of the county executive in November 2025, which saw multiple chief officers reassigned across portfolios.
In that earlier round, Geoffrey Mosiria was moved from Environment to Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, with Hibrahim Otieno taking over the Environment docket.
Other changes included the transfer of Godfrey Akumali from Business and Hustler Opportunities to Housing and Urban Renewal, while Lydia Mathia moved in the opposite direction to head the business docket.
Tony Michael Kimani’s role was expanded from Social Services to Social Services and Estate Management, while Sande Oyolo was reassigned to Medical Facilities.
Wilson Gakuya was moved from the Smart Nairobi docket to the Digital Economy and Start-Ups portfolio, as Clement Rapudo shifted from City Culture, Arts and Tourism to Smart Nairobi.
Zipporah Mwangi was also reassigned from Citizen Engagement and Customer Service to City Culture, Arts, and Tourism.
