NAIROBI, Kenya- The United States Embassy in Nairobi has honoured outgoing General Service Unit (GSU) Commandant Ranson Lolmodooni at a retirement luncheon, celebrating years of security cooperation between the two institutions.

The luncheon, held on Friday at the Chief of Mission’s Residence in Muthaiga, brought together senior officials from the US Embassy and the National Police Service to recognise Lolmodooni’s service and reaffirm the long-standing partnership between the United States and the GSU.

Speaking during the event, Lolmodooni thanked the US Embassy for its continued support of the General Service Unit through the National Police Service.

He called for deeper collaboration between the two institutions, saying enhanced cooperation would strengthen Kenya’s internal security and improve the GSU’s operational capacity.

The Embassy’s Regional Security Officer, Corryn Stratton, praised the relationship between the US mission and the GSU, describing it as mutually beneficial over the years.

She expressed confidence that the partnership would continue under the unit’s new leadership.

Among the US Embassy officials present were Deputy Regional Security Officer Justin Geinert, Assistant Regional Security Officer Jonathan Welch, SPEAR Mentor Tarrol Peterson and Senior Foreign Service National Investigator Julius Norberts.

Lolmodooni was accompanied by the newly appointed GSU Commandant Johana Tonui, Deputy Commanding Officer of the GSU Recce Tactical Sub-unit Jeremy Ndegwa, Officer Commanding the Unit Police and VIP Protection Siyad Abdi and other senior GSU officers.

The luncheon underscored the longstanding security cooperation between Kenya and the United States, particularly in areas of law enforcement capacity building, training and institutional support.
