NAIROBI, Kenya — A team of law enforcement officers based at Kayole Police Station has arrested three suspects and recovered a Retay Falcon pistol along Kangundo Road, in an operation that also netted 62 mobile phones and a Ceska pistol magazine in Dandora.
Saika Stage Pursuit
The drama unfolded near the Saika stage when officers on patrol spotted a motorcycle carrying a rider and two pillion passengers. Upon noticing the police, the motorcycle sped off into Saika Estate, triggering a swift pursuit.
Officers intercepted the motorcycle. The two pillion passengers jumped off and scattered, sparking a foot chase through the busy neighbourhood.
During the pursuit, one suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Shem Kariuki Ondieki, dropped an object as he fled. Officers cornered and arrested him before returning to inspect what had fallen.
Deadly Find
Lying on the ground was a Retay Falcon pistol loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition — a find signalling the suspects may have been on a far more dangerous mission than an ordinary boda boda ride.
The motorcycle rider, 19-year-old Emanuel Maina Kioi, was also arrested at the scene.
Dandora Raid
Detectives launched a manhunt for the third suspect who vanished into the sprawling Eastlands estates. The trail led officers to Dandora Phase Four, where they stormed a house linked to Samwel Okoth Ochieng and arrested him.
Recovered from the house were a Ceska pistol magazine loaded with 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 62 assorted mobile phones, assorted electronic items, a Mercedes-Benz ignition key, and several other incriminating items.
Ongoing Investigation
The suspects are being held at Kayole Police Station pending arraignment, as officers widen investigations into what is suspected to be an organised criminal syndicate operating within Nairobi’s Eastlands.
