Sifuna, Babu Owino, Orengo Take Linda Mwananchi Campaign to Gusii

Date:

KISII, Kenya — The Linda Mwananchi political faction will on Friday take its grassroots mobilisation campaign to the Gusii region, with a series of political rallies planned across Kisii and Nyamira counties.

The delegation will be led by ODM’s Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Siaya Governor James Orengo, who have emerged as some of the movement’s most prominent voices in recent months.

They will be joined by several lawmakers allied to the faction, including Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka and other elected leaders.

The Gusii tour forms part of the faction’s ongoing nationwide outreach campaign aimed at strengthening grassroots support and engaging citizens on governance and constitutional issues.

Grassroots mobilisation

The Linda Mwananchi movement has intensified its regional engagements in recent months, holding rallies across different parts of the country as its leaders seek to broaden the coalition’s political base.

Friday’s meetings in Kisii and Nyamira are expected to provide the leaders with an opportunity to outline the faction’s agenda and interact with residents on matters affecting governance, accountability and public participation.

The campaign also comes at a time of heightened political activity, with leaders from different parties and alliances stepping up grassroots engagements ahead of anticipated political realignments before the 2027 General Election.

Political landscape

The Gusii region remains a key political battleground, attracting increased attention from competing political formations seeking to consolidate support.

Sifuna, Orengo and Babu Owino have recently intensified public engagements under the Linda Mwananchi banner, positioning the movement as a platform advocating constitutionalism, democratic governance and citizen-centred leadership.

Friday’s rallies are expected to be attended by local leaders and supporters from across the two counties as the faction continues its nationwide mobilisation drive.
