Nairobi, Kenya- The National Police Service has strongly condemned three separate violent incidents reported within a 24-hour period in Nairobi, describing them as serious attacks on public order and the rule of law.
The incidents, which occurred in Mwiki, Embakasi, and Lang’ata, are now under investigation by specialized units including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
Woman fighting for life after Mwiki petrol attack
In the first incident, a woman is reported to be fighting for her life at Kenyatta National Hospital after she was allegedly doused with petrol and set on fire in the Mwiki area of Kasarani Sub-county.
Preliminary investigations suggest the attack may have been linked to her political views, which allegedly angered her attackers.
Police say a specialized investigative team has been deployed to determine the motive and apprehend those responsible.
Motorist assaults traffic officer in Embakasi
In a second incident, a video circulating on social media shows a motorist physically assaulting a traffic police officer on duty in Embakasi.
Authorities have identified the suspect, and investigations are ongoing as due process is being pursued.
The NPS says the attack undermines law enforcement operations and represents a growing concern over assaults targeting officers in the line of duty.
Metro Shuttle crew arrested after Lang’ata attack
The third incident occurred in Lang’ata, where crew members of a Metro Shuttle bus allegedly attacked a traffic officer during enforcement duties.
Police swiftly arrested the suspects and impounded the vehicle involved in the confrontation.
The service says the incident reflects rising disregard for lawful enforcement actions and will be handled firmly under the law.
Police warn against attacks on officers
The National Police Service condemned all three incidents, stressing that attacks on police officers and civilians threaten national stability and the rule of law.
Authorities urged members of the public to support lawful policing and report incidents through emergency lines including 999, 911, or anonymous reporting channels.
The service also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public order, protecting citizens, and taking firm action against anyone obstructing law enforcement duties.
The string of violent incidents in Nairobi has raised fresh concerns over public safety and respect for law enforcement. As investigations continue, police say they will pursue all suspects and reinforce measures to prevent further attacks on officers and civilians.
