NAIROBI, Kenya- Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has kicked off his engagements with Kenyans living in the United Kingdom, using the meetings to criticise President William Ruto’s administration over corruption, governance and the rising cost of living.
Speaking during a gathering with Kenyans in London, Gachagua said members of the diaspora had expressed concerns over what he termed abuse of the rule of law and weak policies affecting key sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture and social security.
The former deputy president said the discussions also focused on the country’s political direction and the progress made by his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) over the past year.
“They shared their concerns about the current situation in our country, particularly the threats of corruption, abuse of the rule of law, and inadequate policies in critical sectors,” Gachagua said.
He urged Kenyans abroad to remain actively involved in national affairs and continue advocating for change while maintaining close ties with citizens back home.
“I encouraged them to continue monitoring the situation at home and to keep advocating for change as they stay connected with Kenyans back home and across the world,” he stated.
Gachagua further assured the diaspora community that his political movement was committed to building what he described as a better Kenya founded on accountability, truth and inclusive leadership.
“I assured them of our commitment to bringing back a better Kenya, a nation where every Kenyan’s voice matters,” he said.
The former deputy president was accompanied by his spouse Rev. Dorcas Rigathi, Nyandarua Senator John Methu, MP Wakili Edward Muriu, Nyeri Woman Representative aspirant Anita Thumbi, Fanya Mambo Kinuthia and other political allies.
His UK visit comes amid heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, with the former deputy president increasingly positioning himself as a key opposition voice against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
