NAIROBI, Kenya — The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has announced a nationwide call for applications for its student attachment programme, offering three-month placements designed to equip students with hands-on regulatory experience in the ICT sector.
The authority published the notice on Friday, April 3, targeting ongoing university students for placements across technical and corporate departments aligned with Kenya’s digital economy governance framework.
Regulatory Exposure
The programme exposes participants to real-world operations in telecommunications, cybersecurity, e-commerce, broadcasting, multimedia, and postal/courier services. Successful applicants will work alongside experienced professionals in departments matching their academic backgrounds.
Technical placements include Frequency and Spectrum Management, Compliance Enforcement, Monitoring and Inspection, and Postal and Telecom Licensing.
ICT-focused students may apply for Information Technology and Cyber Security roles.
Corporate and support functions encompass Human Resources and Administration, Corporate Communications, Finance and Accounts, Supply Chain Management, Consumer Protection and Advocacy, Public Education and Awareness, and Legal Services.
Specialised units such as Standards and Type Approval, Universal Service Fund, Research and Quality Management, and Competition Management also host attachments.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must be current students in recognised universities, with fields of study directly relevant to their target departments. Acceptable disciplines include Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Journalism, Finance, Economics, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Law, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Public Policy.
Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in regulatory environment experience and submit a one-page curriculum vitae, a cover letter specifying department preference, and an official institutional letter confirming enrollment and attachment support.

Governance Safeguards
The authority reaffirmed its equal opportunity employer status, encouraging applications from persons living with disabilities and individuals from marginalised communities.
CA explicitly warned that canvassing or incomplete documentation will result in automatic disqualification, signalling institutional commitment to merit-based selection in a sector often scrutinised for transparency.
