Land Fraud Suspect Arrested Over Alleged Sh12 Million Muthaiga Property Scam

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a suspect linked to an alleged land fraud scheme involving a prime one-acre property in Muthaiga, Nairobi, valued at approximately Sh12 million.

The suspect, Robinson Mbatha Wambua, was arrested during an intelligence-led operation at Jacaranda Hotel in Westlands by detectives from the DCI Headquarters’ Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU).

According to the DCI, investigations began after a complaint was lodged with detectives at DCI Starehe over suspected fraudulent dealings involving the property located along Mua Park Road in Muthaiga.

The matter was later transferred to the LFIU, whose investigations allegedly established that Wambua, through his company Structure Lite Ltd, procured and uttered a fraudulent Certificate of Title relating to the parcel of land.

Following the completion of investigations, the case file was submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which found that a prima facie case had been established and approved criminal charges against the suspect.

Wambua is expected to face charges of Making a False Document, Obtaining Registration by False Pretences, Uttering a False Document, and Giving False Information to a Person Employed in the Public Service.

He is currently being processed by detectives and is expected to be arraigned in court.

The DCI said it remains committed to combating land fraud, safeguarding property rights and ensuring those involved in fraudulent land transactions are brought to justice.
