NAIROBI, Kenya — Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga has reaffirmed the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions’ commitment to strengthening partnerships that promote justice, human rights and the rule of law following a meeting with Amnesty International Kenya.
Ingonga hosted a delegation from Amnesty International Kenya led by its Executive Director, George Morara, during a courtesy call aimed at exploring areas of cooperation between the two institutions.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the meeting also provided an opportunity to formally introduce Morara following his appointment as the organisation’s Executive Director.
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in advancing access to justice, accountability and the protection of human rights.
Speaking during the meeting, Ingonga underscored the importance of constructive engagement between prosecutorial agencies and human rights organisations in enhancing Kenya’s criminal justice system.
“The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions remains committed to upholding the Constitution, safeguarding the rule of law, and fostering partnerships that enhance access to justice and the protection of human rights. Collaboration with stakeholders such as Amnesty International Kenya contributes to building public confidence in the administration of justice,” Ingonga said.
The DPP added that continued dialogue with civil society organisations is essential in addressing emerging challenges within the justice sector while ensuring prosecutorial decisions remain independent, fair and guided by the Constitution and the law.

Morara welcomed the engagement, saying Amnesty International Kenya is committed to working with state institutions to strengthen constitutional governance and promote accountability.
“Amnesty International Kenya looks forward to engaging constructively with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in promoting accountability, respect for human rights, and the rule of law. We believe that strong institutions and meaningful partnerships are essential in creating a society where everyone enjoys justice, dignity, and equal protection under the law,” he said.

The meeting comes as the ODPP continues to engage with stakeholders across the justice sector to strengthen institutional cooperation and improve public confidence in the administration of justice.
Amnesty International Kenya is a human rights organisation that advocates for the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, constitutional governance and equal access to justice.
