NAIROBI, Kenya — The government has announced a fresh round of appointments and leadership changes across state agencies and county institutions, as Cabinet Secretaries and governors continue efforts to fill vacancies, reconstitute boards and strengthen governance in public institutions.

The appointments, published in a Kenya Gazette Notice dated July 10, 2026, affect several ministries, state agencies and county governments, with most taking effect from the date of publication.

New NGAAF and NEMA Board Appointments

Under the Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services, Gerald Kimathi Ithibua and Dr. Jane Jepkorir Barus have been appointed as members of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) Board for a three-year term.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry appointed Sheila Chepkorir Kosgei to the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) Board of Directors, where she will also serve for three years.

Trade Ministry Appoints 14 Inspectors

The Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry has appointed 14 Weights and Measures Inspectors to enhance enforcement of product standards, consumer protection laws and trade regulations across the country.

The inspectors will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legal metrology requirements and protecting consumers from unfair trade practices.

Co-operatives Ministry Revises Committee Membership

The Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development amended an earlier Gazette Notice by revoking the appointments of Jackie Muia and Roselyne Chepkirui from a working committee.

They have been replaced by Michael Nyaga, Esther Njeri, Alfred Matiangi and Geoffrey Mureithi.

Joho Establishes Community Mining Committee

Under the Ministry of Mining and Blue Economy, Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho established a Community Development Agreement Committee for the Kishushe Community in Taita Taveta County.

The committee will oversee the implementation of a community development agreement linked to mining activities undertaken by Karsan Samruddha Resources Kenya Limited.

County Governments Make Fresh Appointments

Several county governments also announced new appointments.

In Nairobi County, Governor Johnson Sakaja appointed Declerk Shivanji Kiarie and Mary Wairimu Kimani as members of the Dagoretti South Sub-county Liquor Committee, replacing two members whose appointments were revoked.

In Narok County, Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu appointed John Sayiaton Kitita as Chairperson of the Narok County Public Service Board, alongside several new board members who will each serve six-year terms.

Meru Governor Rev. Isaac Mutuma M’Ethingia appointed Stephen Nturibi Etirikia as the County Executive Committee Member for Legal Affairs, Public Service Management and Administration.

In Turkana County, Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai appointed Priscilla Ewoi Ateyo as a member of the Lodwar Municipality Board.

Meanwhile, Kisii Governor Paul Simba Arati constituted the Kisii County Rural and Urban Affordable Housing Committee, appointing Architect Peter Asati Moturi as its non-executive chairperson.
