NAIROBI, Kenya — The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the commencement of an Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise in five electoral areas across the country.
In a public notice issued on Thursday, the commission said the month-long registration exercise began on June 25 and will run until July 25, 2026.
The targeted registration drive will be conducted in Mbeere North Constituency, Porro Ward in Samburu West Constituency, Endo Ward in Marakwet East Constituency, Emurua Dikirr Constituency, and Malava Constituency.
According to the electoral commission, registration services during the enhanced exercise will be available daily from Monday to Sunday throughout the registration period.
The exercise will be conducted at county assembly ward level, constituency offices, Huduma Centres, institutions of higher learning located within the affected electoral areas, and at the Commission’s Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.
The voter registration drive comes as the commission continues preparations for upcoming electoral activities in the affected constituencies and wards, while also updating the national register of voters.
IEBC urged eligible Kenyans who have attained the age of 18 years and are not registered voters to take advantage of the exercise and enrol in the voters’ register.
The commission also encouraged registered voters wishing to transfer their voting stations or update their registration details to visit the designated registration centres during the exercise.
Upon completion of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration programme on July 25, the commission said regular Continuous Voter Registration and routine revision of the Register of Voters will continue at constituency offices across the country.
These services will be available from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, between 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
The resumption of voter registration marks a key milestone for the reconstituted electoral commission as it seeks to strengthen electoral preparedness and ensure eligible citizens are captured in the national register ahead of future electoral processes.
Election stakeholders have previously emphasised the importance of continuous voter registration in enhancing citizen participation and ensuring the integrity of Kenya’s electoral system.
