NAIROBI, Kenya — The family of the late Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho has affirmed its loyalty to President William Ruto, expressing continued support for his leadership.
During the burial ceremony in Tigoni, Kiaraho’s son, Ian, delivered an emotional tribute that included a direct message to the President. He thanked him for the steadfast support he had shown his father over the years.
“Dad really loved you. You stood by him from 2013 until the day he rested. We will continue to stand with you and give you support because you have stood with this family. Thank you for that loyalty,” Ian said.
His remarks resonated strongly with mourners, underscoring the close bond, both personal and political, between the President and the late MP, who passed away on March 29 while receiving treatment.
In his tribute, Ian went beyond politics, offering a deeply personal reflection on his father’s life. He described him as a strict disciplinarian, a mentor, and a constant source of support.
“Yours was a life of remarkable achievement and even greater impact,” he said, emphasizing that Kiaraho placed a higher value on integrity and service than on material wealth.
He also recalled the lessons his father instilled in him growing up, shaped by firm discipline and a strong Christian upbringing that included regular church attendance and a fondness for hymns like How Great Thou Art.
Highlighting his father’s broader legacy, Ian pointed to key developments such as Mirage in Westlands, a greenhouse along Ngong Road, and NextGen near the Nairobi Expressway as enduring markers of his vision beyond public office.
On a personal level, he remembered him as a devoted family man whose legacy would continue through his children and grandchildren.
The ceremony drew prominent leaders, including President Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as well as former DP Rigathi Gachagu among other leaders.
Ian concluded his tribute with a commitment to carry forward his father’s legacy.
David Kiaraho died on March 29, 2026, at Nairobi Hospital at the age of 62.
Born on October 2, 1963, he trained as an architect and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Nairobi.
He ventured into elective politics in the 2013 General Election, securing the Ol Kalou parliamentary seat on a The National Alliance (TNA) ticket under the Jubilee coalition wave that swept Central Kenya. He later retained the seat in the 2017 General Election after Jubilee became a unified political party.
