CS Alice Wahome Launches Construction of Ol Kalou University

Date:

NYANDARUA, Kenya- The long-awaited establishment of Ol Kalou University moved a step closer to reality on Monday after the official groundbreaking ceremony for the institution was held in Karau Ward, Ol Kalou Constituency.

The event was presided over by Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome and attended by local leaders, residents and government officials.

President William Ruto’s Senior Economic Advisor Moses Kuria described the project as a historic milestone for the people of Nyandarua, saying it fulfilled the President’s commitment to establish a university in Ol Kalou and expand access to higher education in the region.

“This landmark project is a fulfillment of President William Ruto’s commitment to establish a university in Ol Kalou, bringing quality higher education closer to our youth and creating new opportunities for growth and development,” Kuria said.

He noted that the project demonstrates the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises and investing in education as a driver of economic transformation.

Kuria said the institution will not only provide learning opportunities for young people but also stimulate economic growth through job creation, innovation and research.

“A university is more than infrastructure; it is an investment in knowledge, innovation and the future of generations to come,” he said.

According to Kuria, the groundbreaking ceremony marked the laying of a foundation not only for buildings but also for a brighter future for Nyandarua residents and neighbouring counties.

The planned university is expected to improve access to higher education for students in the region, reducing the need for learners to travel long distances in search of university education.

The project is also expected to boost local businesses and support the government’s broader agenda of expanding educational opportunities and strengthening human capital development across the country.

Residents welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the institution will open up new opportunities for the area’s youth and contribute to the socio-economic growth of the county.

Construction works are expected to commence following the groundbreaking ceremony, with the government positioning the project as a key investment in the region’s future.
