Former Tahidi High Actor Bilal Wanjau has Died

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya’s entertainment industry is in mourning following the death of celebrated actor Bilal Wanjau, widely known for his roles in Bazenga, The Runaway, and Wimped.

The late actor, who first gained prominence in the iconic Tahidi High series on Citizen TV, also starred in popular shows including Pepeta, Lies that Bind, and Maisha Magic’s Jela 5 Star.

Sandra Dacha, a close friend and colleague of Bilal, confirmed his passing on Thursday, December 4, attributing it to complications related to diabetes.

In her social media post, Sandra shared a video showing her assisting Bilal to rise from a seat, highlighting the challenges he faced due to his weight.

“It is with profound sorrow that I announce the untimely passing of my colleague @webster_jnr this early morning due to diabetes complications,” Sandra wrote.

She described Bilal as “a great, talented actor” and said his death represents a significant loss to Kenya’s film industry.

Sandra also shared details of Bilal’s funeral, noting that, in line with Muslim tradition, he will be buried on Friday, December 5, at his rural home in Machakos.

“Kindly keep the family in your prayers. May God rest his soul in eternal peace,” she added.

In recent months, Sandra had been supporting Bilal on a personal health journey.

She introduced him to a clinic to help with weight management, following her own successful weight-loss experience with Ozempic.

In September, she shared a warm video welcoming Bilal to the clinic, showing the close bond they shared.

Bilal Wanjau’s passing leaves a void in Kenya’s acting community, with fans and colleagues alike remembering his talent, dedication, and infectious sense of humor.
