NAIROBI, Kenya – Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and Chief Justice Martha Koome led the launch of the highly anticipated report, “Greening The Justice System: Framework, Theories, Elements, and Practice Imperatives,” at Nairobi’s Safari Park Hotel on Wednesday.
The report, a groundbreaking outcome of an in-depth study commissioned by the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ), marks a significant milestone in the ongoing ‘Greening Kenya’s Justice System’ initiative.
This initiative is a pioneering effort by the Judiciary to weave environmental considerations into the very fabric of Kenya’s justice processes.

Addressing a distinguished gathering that included top officials from Kenya’s justice sector, CS Duale emphasized the critical role of the justice system in advancing sustainable development.
“Our justice system must be a leader in embracing sustainability, setting the example for other sectors to follow,” he said.
Chief Justice Koome echoed these sentiments, highlighting the Judiciary’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served and done in a manner that protects and preserves the environment.
“This report lays the groundwork for a justice system that not only resolves disputes but also safeguards the natural world for future generations,” she remarked.
The event was graced by key figures including Correctional Services PS Salome Beacco, Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin, Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo, and FIDA Kenya chairperson Christine Kungu, all of whom voiced support for the initiative.
