Fire Erupts at Mtindwa Market in Nairobi’s Umoja Area

NAIROBI, Kenya- A fire broke out at Mtindwa Market in Umoja, Nairobi, on Wednesday, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and prompting an emergency response as firefighters moved in to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

Emergency response teams were deployed to the scene, where crews were seen battling the inferno amid heavy smoke rising from the market area.

Residents in surrounding neighborhoods were urged to keep off the area to allow emergency operations to proceed unhindered.
