NAIROBI, Kenya — Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects in Rongai and recovered a firearm that had earlier been stolen from a police officer.
In a statement, DCI said the intelligence-led operation was conducted jointly by officers from Kajiado North and Ngong Police Station, targeting the Kware and Mandazi Road areas within Rongai town.
The suspects, identified as Cyrus Mureithi Mburu (54) and Peter Kangethe (49), were arrested following coordinated searches.
According to investigators, a search at Mburu’s residence led to the recovery of a magazine loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition and a half-litre of gun oil.
Detectives later recovered a Ceska pistol—identified as having been robbed from an officer attached to the Security of Government Buildings (SGB).
Additional items seized include two imitation firearms, a pair of handcuffs, keys and a Maasai sword, all of which have been secured as exhibits.
The suspects are currently being held at Ngong Police Station pending arraignment as investigations continue.
The DCI reiterated its commitment to tackling crime and protecting public safety, noting that efforts to track and recover illegal firearms remain a priority amid concerns over their use in criminal activities.
