Senator Boni Khalwale’s Wife Gloria Dies After Heart Attack

Date:

KAKAMEGA, Kenya- Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is mourning the sudden death of his wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, who died on Saturday morning after collapsing following a heart attack.

Khalwale announced Gloria’s death in a statement shared on social media, saying she had suddenly collapsed and died after suffering the heart attack. The announcement was independently reported by several Kenyan news outlets on Saturday.

“My dear wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, has this morning suddenly collapsed and died after a heart attack,” Khalwale said.

Gloria was the mother of eight children, whom Khalwale identified as Engine Kukaste Khalwale, Olivia Sabayi Khalwale, Flavia Shimuli Khalwale, Gift Atubukha Khalwale, Meliza Khamwenyi Khalwale, Velma Nasiebanda Khalwale, Sonia Inuni Khalwale and Maura Makatse Khalwale.

The senator did not provide further details on whether Gloria had been receiving treatment for any underlying medical condition before her death.

Leaders send condolences

The news of Gloria’s death has triggered an outpouring of condolence messages from political leaders, colleagues, friends and members of the public.

Lawyer Paul Muite expressed his condolences to Khalwale and his children, praying for Gloria’s soul to rest in eternal peace and asking God to give the family strength during the difficult period.

Former politician Irungu Nyakera also sent his condolences, asking God to give Khalwale and his family strength and comfort following the loss.

Dr Bernard Chitunga similarly condoled with the senator, asking God to comfort him, his children and the entire family.

Other leaders and Kenyans also took to social media to mourn Gloria and stand with the Khalwale family following her sudden death.

Gloria was mother of eight

Khalwale had previously spoken publicly about his family, including Gloria Sekeiyan, who was his third wife. In 2024, he said Gloria was the mother of eight of his children.

Her death comes nearly seven years after Khalwale lost his first wife, Adelaide Khalwale, who died in October 2019. Contemporary reports said Adelaide had battled cancer and later developed pulmonary hypertension before her death.

The sudden loss of Sekeiyan has left the Khalwale family and their friends mourning as messages of sympathy continue to reach the senator.

The family is expected to announce funeral arrangements in due course.
