LUMAKANDA, Kenya — Detectives have arrested a passenger after recovering 100 kilograms of cannabis sativa valued at approximately Sh3 million during an operation along the Webuye-Eldoret Highway.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), officers from Lumakanda Police Station intercepted a public service vehicle (PSV) following intelligence that it was being used to transport the suspected narcotics.
Acting on the tip-off, the officers mounted a roadblock at Lumakanda Junction before stopping the vehicle for inspection.

The recovered cannabis weighed about 100 kilograms and has an estimated street value of Sh3 million, according to the DCI.
The suspect was arrested and escorted to Lumakanda Police Station, where he is being processed ahead of his arraignment in court.

The arrest forms part of ongoing operations by law enforcement agencies targeting the trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs along major transport corridors across the country.
Authorities have not disclosed the intended destination of the consignment or whether additional suspects are being pursued as investigations continue.
