Three Arrested After Armed Robbery at Funeral Gathering in Kisumu

Date:

KISUMU, Kenya – Police in Kisumu have arrested three suspects following a brazen armed robbery that targeted mourners at a funeral in Daraja Mbili, Manyatta B area.

The incident occurred at the homestead of the late Susan Achieng’ Otieno, where mourners had gathered for a vigil.

According to a statement from the National Police Service, the suspects stormed the home and began robbing attendees.

A distress call made by one of the mourners prompted a swift response from Kasagam Police Station officers, who were on foot patrol in the area.

“With the help of members of the public, three of the suspects were apprehended while their accomplices fled the scene,” the statement said.

During the operation, police recovered a blue TVS motorcycle bearing registration number KMFK 840L, believed to have been used by the suspects during the robbery.

Authorities say efforts are underway to track down the remaining individuals involved.

The police commended the community for its cooperation and vigilance, urging the public to continue sharing information that may assist in apprehending the suspects still at large.

“We encourage anyone with information to come forward. Together, we can ensure the safety and security of our neighbourhoods,” police said.
