NAIROBI, Kenya- Police officers from Kenya Police Service have arrested a suspect and recovered assorted items believed to have been stolen during an intelligence-led operation in Mtwapa Township.

The operation was conducted by officers attached to Mtwapa Police Station in Kilifi South Sub-County.

Authorities say the raid led to the recovery of several household and electronic items suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Electronics, gas cylinders and jewellery recovered in raid

Among the items recovered were multiple gas cylinders, television sets, mobile phones and other electronic equipment.

Police also seized assorted jewellery, SIM cards, household appliances and additional domestic goods believed to have been stolen from different locations.

Investigators are now working to establish the origin of the recovered items and identify possible victims linked to the suspected theft.

Suspect remains in custody as investigations continue

According to police, the suspect was escorted to Mtwapa Police Station, where he remains in custody pending arraignment in court.

The recovered items have been retained as exhibits to support ongoing investigations and future court proceedings.

Authorities have not yet disclosed whether more suspects linked to the case are being pursued.

Security agencies intensify crackdown on property crime

The latest operation comes amid increased police efforts to crack down on theft and burglary cases across parts of the Coast region.

Security agencies have increasingly relied on intelligence-led operations to track stolen property, dismantle criminal networks and recover household goods stolen from residents and businesses.

Police have urged members of the public to report suspicious activities and provide information that could assist investigations.
