Ruto Meets British High Commissioner Neil Wigan in Kisumu

KISUMU, Kenya – President William Ruto hosted British High Commissioner Neil Wigan at the Kisumu State Lodge on Friday, where the two leaders underscored the enduring and multifaceted diplomatic relationship between Kenya and the United Kingdom.

In a brief statement following the meeting, President Ruto emphasized that the partnership between the two nations is deeply rooted in shared economic, cultural, and interpersonal ties.

“Kenya and Britain enjoy deep, robust, and historical diplomatic ties centred on economic, cultural, and people-to-people relations. This relationship has had a tremendous impact on many spheres of our citizens and nations,” Ruto stated.

The meeting, which took place during President Ruto’s working tour of the Nyanza region, highlighted the continuous collaboration between Kenya and the UK in various sectors.

The two leaders discussed ongoing and future initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, reflecting on the historical relationship that has consistently evolved to address the changing global dynamics.

Senior officials from both State House and the British High Commission accompanied President Ruto and High Commissioner Wigan, signaling the importance of the meeting.

The discussions are expected to further bolster the cooperation between Kenya and the UK, focusing on enhancing trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, which have been pivotal in the relationship between the two countries.
