NAIROBI, Kenya- Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has officially launched the United Kingdom chapter of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) as he intensifies efforts to mobilise support among Kenyans in the diaspora ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The launch took place during his ongoing tour of the UK, where Gachagua is engaging Kenyan professionals, entrepreneurs, and supporters living abroad.
Gachagua said the diaspora remained a critical pillar in Kenya’s economic and political future, adding that the DCP would seek stronger engagement with Kenyans living overseas.
The former deputy president was accompanied by his spouse, Dorcas Rigathi, and a delegation of political allies during the launch event.
The UK chapter launch is part of a broader international mobilisation strategy by Gachagua’s party, which has recently expanded its presence among Kenyan communities abroad.
In 2025, the DCP also opened a satellite office in Seattle, United States, targeting diaspora engagement and political networking.
Gachagua, who launched DCP in May 2025 after his impeachment as deputy president, has increasingly positioned himself as a key opposition figure against President William Ruto’s administration.
Sources close to his camp say the UK visit will include town hall meetings, private consultations and fundraising activities aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots and diaspora structures ahead of the next elections.
