Nakuru Jubilee Aspirants Join Gachagua’s DCP Ahead of County Tour

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that several Jubilee Party aspirants from Nakuru County have joined the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ahead of his planned political tour of the county next week.

In a statement, Gachagua said Joel Maina Kairu, whom he described as a former Jubilee gubernatorial aspirant for Nakuru County, had joined DCP after consulting his supporters.

He said Kairu visited his Wamunyoro residence accompanied by Benson Preston Kariuki, whom he identified as the chairperson of All Nakuru Jubilee Party Aspirants, as well as several current and former Jubilee aspirants seeking elective positions.

According to Gachagua, those who joined DCP include Simon Moyi, Dommy Kiragu, Kezziah Njeri Wachiuri, Ayub Kamau Njane, Paul Thuo, Timothy Kabutu, Josephat Waweru Mwangi, Samuel Kariuki Mugi, Munyinyi Minai and Mwaniki Sonko.

Gachagua said the defections reflected growing support for DCP ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“The DCP Party wave is sweeping across the country and continues to attract aspirants and members in droves,” he said.

He added that more political aspirants had expressed interest in joining the party before his scheduled visit to Nakuru County on 14 and 15 August.

“Hundreds of other aspirants have already booked visits to Wamunyoro ahead of my visit to Nakuru County,” Gachagua said.

The announcement comes as political parties continue to recruit members and aspirants as they position themselves for the 2027 elections.
