Former Presidential Candidate Peter Kenneth appointed Kenya Bureau of Standards National Standards Council chairperson

NAIROBI, Kenya – President Ruto has appointed former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth as the new Chairperson of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) National Standards Council.

Kenneth, a seasoned politician and banker, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served in leadership positions across the public and private sectors.

Born on November 27, 1965, Kenneth hails from Kirwara, Gatanga Constituency in Murang’a County.

A graduate of the University of Nairobi with a Master’s degree in Law, Kenneth also attended the Executive Programme at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland.

His professional background includes over a decade in Kenya’s banking and insurance industries, rising through the ranks at Prudential Finance and later serving as Managing Director of the Kenya Reinsurance Corporation.

Kenneth’s public profile grew during his tenure as Gatanga MP, a position he held between 2002 and 2013.

His leadership earned Gatanga national recognition for effectively utilizing Constituency Development Funds, showcasing a results-driven approach to governance.

Kenneth also served as Assistant Minister for Finance and later for Planning, National Development, and Vision 2030.

Beyond politics, Kenneth has chaired organizations such as Zep Reinsurance and the Kenya Football Federation, where he steered reforms aimed at improving administration and performance.
