NAIROBI, Kenya – Officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested four suspects linked to the murder of a British national and a series of violent robberies targeting foreign nationals along the Coast.
The suspects, Bernard Mbusu, Isaac Kinoti Kobia, Evans Muthengi Mutaki and Kelvin Mwangi Njoroge were apprehended in Ukunda following what investigators described as an intelligence-led, multi-agency operation.
“Detectives have arrested four suspects linked to the murder of a British national and multiple robbery with violence incidents following an intelligence-led, multi-agency operation in Ukunda,” DCI noted.
The operation brought together officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CR&IB) headquarters, alongside teams from Nyali and Msambweni.
According to investigators, the arrests stem from ongoing probes into multiple crimes, including a robbery with violence involving an American national in Nyali and the earlier abduction and killing of British national Campbell Scott Alistair in February 2025.
His body was later discovered in Mukuyuni along the Machakos–Wote road.
Authorities further revealed that the suspects have been forensically linked to another robbery incident in Watamu, Malindi Sub-County, suggesting a broader criminal network operating in the coastal region.
A search conducted at their residence in Ukunda led to the recovery of several items believed to have been stolen, including a laptop, mobile phones, foreign currencies, credit cards, cheque books from various banks and point-of-sale (PDQ) machines.
Crime scene investigators processed the location, and the suspects, along with the recovered items, are currently being held at Nyali Police Station as investigations continue.
Police say the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in efforts to tackle violent crime targeting foreign nationals and have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of both residents and visitors.
