NAIROBI, Kenya- Nyandarua Senator John Methu led a Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) meeting in Kata Mwingi, Makadara, where the party renewed its call for a new political dispensation founded on the rule of law, constitutionalism and equity.
In a message following the meeting, DCP thanked residents for their support and commitment, saying Kenyans were waiting to “reclaim the country they yearn for”.
The party did not outline specific policy proposals or a timeline for the changes it is seeking.
Methu is the DCP Secretary-General-designate.
The meeting brought the party’s message to Makadara as it works to grow its presence in Nairobi ahead of the 2027 General Election.
DCP seeks to build support in Nairobi
DCP has held a series of political engagements in Nairobi as part of its efforts to expand its support beyond its established base.
The party is led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Makadara is also part of the party’s election plans.
Former Principal Secretary Irungu Nyakera has said he will seek the constituency’s parliamentary seat on a DCP ticket in 2027, after dropping his bid for Nairobi governor.
DCP has said it plans to field candidates across all 47 counties in the next General Election.
At the Makadara meeting, its message centred on constitutionalism, the rule of law and equity as foundations for the political change it is campaigning for.
