NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a full-day closure of Limuru Road at the Aga Khan Primary School section on Sunday, May 11, 2025, to facilitate the installation of a footbridge deck.
The road will be closed from 00:00 hours to 23:59 hours, causing significant traffic disruption throughout the day.
In a public notice issued on Friday, KURA urged motorists to use alternative routes as indicated in the official traffic diversion map, advising them to follow the guidance of traffic marshals and police stationed at the site.
The footbridge installation is part of a larger initiative aimed at improving pedestrian safety and road accessibility.
KURA’s Director General, Silas Kinoti, expressed apologies for the inconvenience caused by the closure, stating, “We apologize for the inconvenience caused as we strive to Transform Urban Mobility.”
Alternative access routes will remain available to City Park Estate, Total Energies, and other nearby areas through designated diversions.
The footbridge project is crucial in enhancing road safety, especially following recent actions by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), which detained several pedestrians for failing to use designated footpaths and footbridges.
NTSA had previously warned pedestrians to adhere to traffic regulations for their safety, encouraging the use of available footbridges and walkways.
