NAIROBI, Kenya- Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has called for calm in Emurua Dikirr as former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua begins his tour of the constituency.
Sudi urged residents to welcome Gachagua and allow him to conduct his activities without confrontation, warning against violence or political clashes.
“Emurua Dikirr people, please welcome the former Deputy President. We don’t want any chaos or noise, even though he has no agenda,” Sudi said.
He stressed that no individual should take the law into their own hands, urging residents to allow political leaders to visit different parts of the country freely.
“No one has permission to take the law into their own hands. Let him come, welcome him, let him lie and then go. Another will come another day. That is the Kenya we want,” Sudi said.
Sudi also appealed to residents to protect relationships between communities despite political differences.
“The person you walk with or stand by in that meeting is your brother or sister. We don’t want blood to be shed because of politics,” he said.
Gachagua arrived in Emurua Dikirr on Friday as part of a thanksgiving tour following his party’s performance in the constituency’s May parliamentary by-election.
The DCP leader began his visit by travelling to the home of the late former Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno, where he condoled with the former lawmaker’s family.
Gachagua later paid tribute to Ng’eno at his graveside, laying a wreath at the former MP’s grave.
Gachagua and Ng’eno were political allies and friends before the former MP’s death.

Ng’eno died in a helicopter crash in Nandi County in February 2026. His death triggered the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election held on May 14.
The by-election was won by UDA candidate David Kipsang Keter, while DCP candidate Vincent Kibet Rotich finished second.
Gachagua’s visit comes after days of heightened political attention around his planned appearance in the constituency.
The former Deputy President had written to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja seeking security assurances for his visit, citing concerns over reported threats.
Gachagua is expected to proceed with a thanksgiving event attended by DCP supporters and political allies.
The visit forms part of the DCP leader’s efforts to expand the party’s support beyond its traditional political base ahead of the 2027 General Election.
