PS Omollo Urges Kenyans to Shape Post-Vision 2030 Development Blueprint

Date:

HOMA BAY, Kenya — Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Dr. Raymond Omollo has urged Kenyans to actively participate in the National Conversation on Kenya’s Future Beyond Vision 2030, saying the initiative will allow citizens to shape a new long-term development blueprint for the country.

Speaking at Ambassador Pamela Mboya Girls High School in Suba, Homa Bay County, Dr. Omollo said the nationwide dialogue, set to be officially launched on August 12, 2026, will provide an opportunity for all Kenyans to contribute ideas on the country’s development trajectory beyond Vision 2030.

He said the process, proposed by President William Ruto, is intended to bring together young people, students, professionals, political leaders, faith-based organisations, the private sector, civil society and senior citizens to formulate a people-driven national vision that transcends political and electoral cycles.

“We owe it to the current and future generations to have an honest conversation, safeguard the gains we have made and address the longstanding challenges that have held our country back since independence,” Dr. Omollo said.

The Principal Secretary said the proposed national vision seeks to transform Kenya into a prosperous, high-income, industrialised and globally competitive nation while ensuring that development benefits every region and every generation.

He said the government’s commitment to inclusive development is already reflected in reforms aimed at expanding access to National Identity Cards, healthcare and education, alongside investments in roads, modern markets and other critical infrastructure across the country.

“Development must never depend on how a community voted or where a citizen comes from. Every Kenyan must be treated equally, and every region must receive a fair share of national progress,” he said.

Dr. Omollo commended Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and the county’s elected leaders, including Members of Parliament, the Senator, Woman Representative and Members of the County Assembly, for working together to promote development in the county.

He urged political leaders to prioritise the welfare of citizens above partisan interests, saying political differences should not be allowed to derail development programmes.

Addressing students, the Principal Secretary challenged them to remain disciplined, respect their teachers and fellow learners, and make good use of educational opportunities provided by the government, parents and communities.

He also praised approximately 130 eligible students who recently registered for National Identity Cards through the government’s school-based registration programme, saying the initiative would enable learners to leave school with the documents required to pursue higher education, access employment opportunities and participate fully in national life.

Dr. Omollo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to decentralising public services through the operationalisation of new administrative units and the deployment of chiefs and assistant chiefs to strengthen grassroots service delivery, security coordination and access to government programmes.

The event was attended by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’, Members of the County Assembly and other national and county leaders.
