Tatu Telecom Connects 1,000 Customers to High-Speed Fibre Network in Tatu City

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Tatu Telecom, the telecommunications arm of Tatu City, has hit a major milestone by connecting over 1,000 customers to its high-speed fibre optic network.

The company also announced the completion of 85,000 meters of fibre optic cable infrastructure, reinforcing Tatu City’s position as a hub for cutting-edge digital connectivity.

This achievement underscores the 5,000-acre city’s commitment to offering world-class internet access for residents, businesses, and institutions.

In a statement, Tatu Telecom emphasized its goal to provide reliable, high-speed internet to all sectors within the city.

From homes to schools and businesses, the network has been designed to grow in tandem with Tatu City’s rapid development.

The company’s core network currently operates at 10Gbps, but the infrastructure is scalable to 100Gbps, ensuring future-proof connectivity as more people and businesses move into the area.

New occupants are guaranteed connection within 24 hours, providing seamless integration into the city’s digital ecosystem.

Alex Kahu, Tatu City’s Group Head of Utilities at Rendeavour and Deputy Country Head, highlighted the broader impact of this technological advancement.

“This milestone is not just about numbers,” Kahu remarked. “It’s about the lives we’re transforming through reliable, high-speed connectivity, empowering thousands of residents, students, and businesses to thrive in today’s digital world.”

Since its launch three years ago, Tatu Telecom has laid the groundwork for an open-access network, allowing multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to serve the city’s growing community.

This approach has attracted a diverse clientele, ranging from major call centers to educational institutions, all of whom benefit from the stable, high-speed internet service.

To further support its users, Tatu Telecom has introduced a 24-hour help desk, offering round-the-clock technical assistance to ensure minimal downtime.

In response to customer feedback, the company plans to roll out new features such as “firewall as a service” to bolster cybersecurity for both homes and businesses.

This proactive move addresses growing concerns about online safety in an increasingly interconnected world.

Looking beyond Tatu City, Tatu Telecom has launched Fahari Link, an initiative aimed at extending affordable, high-speed internet to underserved communities in Kiambu County.

The project offers low-cost connections, daily internet plans, and public Wi-Fi, targeting nearly one million residents in areas such as Ruiru, Oaklands, and Kamiti Corner.

This effort is part of the company’s larger mission to democratize internet access, ensuring that communities outside of Tatu City also benefit from world-class digital infrastructure.
