DCI Arrests Two Suspects in Ruaka Narcotics Bust

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects and recovered a large consignment of narcotics during a raid at an auto spare and garage shop in Ruaka, Nairobi County.

According to the DCI, officers drawn from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) conducted the operation following intelligence reports linking the premises to suspected drug trafficking activities.

The raid targeted an auto spare and garage shop located in the Riverside area within Ruaka.

Detectives said initial searches inside the shop did not yield any results, but a more detailed inspection of the compound led to the discovery of hidden narcotics.

Investigators recovered four bales of cannabis sativa wrapped in yellow and green cello tape and concealed inside a blue metallic box.

Police also recovered 12 blue carrier bags filled with cannabis hidden inside a white bucket, alongside 26 ziplock bags each containing 49 rolls of cannabis and an additional 20 ziplock bags containing the drug.

The detectives further seized equipment believed to have been used in packaging and distribution operations, including a digital weighing scale, an automatic vacuum sealer, rolling papers, and assorted packaging materials.

Authorities said the items suggested the existence of a well-organised narcotics packaging and distribution network operating from the premises.

Two suspects, identified as Nasiim Abdallah and Trevas Mungai Okoth, were arrested during the operation.

The suspects are currently being held at Muthaiga Police Station pending processing and arraignment in court.

All recovered narcotics and equipment have been detained as exhibits, as investigations continue.
