NAIROBI, Kenya- Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has officially reaffirmed his interest in the 2027 presidential race, declaring that he is determined to become Kenya’s sixth President.
The Safina Party leader said he had remained focused on the presidency since launching his political journey ahead of the 2022 General Election.
“I am running for president. I started a journey in 2022, and I have not stopped,” Wanjigi declared.
“I am on course to become Kenya’s sixth President. I am not letting up. Why should I? I am going all the way.”
The businessman, known for his outspoken criticism of President William Ruto’s administration, said Kenya requires bold leadership capable of confronting the country’s deepening economic crisis.
Wanjigi argued that the next election would largely revolve around the economy and the growing debt burden facing the country.
According to him, the country’s financial challenges have reached alarming levels, with government borrowing increasingly being used to finance recurrent expenditure instead of development projects.
He accused political leaders of failing to address corruption and public debt responsibly, warning that the burden was being transferred to future generations.
“The problem is living beyond us, beyond them, and it is going to finish our children,” he said.
Wanjigi has positioned himself as one of the fiercest critics of Kenya’s economic management, often calling for radical reforms in public spending, debt restructuring and governance.
