KISUMU, Kenya- Former Deputy President and Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua arrived in Kisumu on Friday ahead of a major opposition tour of the Western Kenya region.
Gachagua was received by supporters and allies at Kisumu International Airport as opposition leaders intensified preparations for a multi-county political campaign aimed at consolidating support ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The former deputy president had arrived in the lakeside city to spearhead the tour alongside other leaders from the opposition coalition.
The visit comes a day after Gachagua held consultations with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya as leaders finalized plans for the Western Kenya engagements.
Natembeya said the discussions focused on leadership, unity and the aspirations of residents ahead of the regional tour.
According to the itinerary released by opposition leaders, the tour is expected to cover several counties across Western Kenya, with rallies and public engagements planned to address governance, economic challenges and political reforms.
The leaders have described the initiative as part of a broader national mobilisation campaign aimed at building an alternative political movement ahead of the next general election.
The Western Kenya tour will bring together key opposition figures, including DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, PLP leader Martha Karua, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi.
