Kindiki calls for respect amid rising political rhetoric
Kindiki said all leaders, regardless of political affiliation, deserve respect and dignity.
He cautioned residents against being drawn into political hostility, urging them to remain firm but calm.
“Do not allow anyone to come here and insult your leaders… do not be drawn into unnecessary hostility,” he said.
The Deputy President also criticised what he described as “chest-thumping” politics, saying it lacks substance and direction.
Development projects take centre stage in Kirinyaga visit
During the tour, Kindiki commissioned the Gatarwa Last Mile Electricity Project, which will connect 165 households to power at a cost of Sh9.5 million.
He also inspected the ongoing construction of the Kagumo-Mununga-Kiamaina-Kianjagi Road and addressed residents at Kagumo Trading Centre.
Local leaders, including Anne Waiguru, were present during the visit.
DP warns against abandoning government support
Kindiki reiterated that the Mt Kenya region should continue supporting the government to benefit from development projects.
He warned against allowing “outsiders” to influence local politics, insisting the region must safeguard its interests.
The DP also called on leaders to respect William Ruto, saying leadership requires responsibility and restraint.
His remarks come amid heightened political activity and growing competition for influence in the Mt Kenya region.
